“Writing a bio is never easy. It’s always a strange mix of chest beating and personal history. I’ve been incredibly fortunate that clients have trusted me with their ideas … that they trusted my instincts and allowed me to tell their stories. Curiosity and conversation are what drive my work. Vulnerability also plays a part. That’s it…my bio. You trust me and I’ll trust you.”
Walter is a New York City–based photographer and director whose work lives at the intersection of documentary and portraiture. Drawn to real people and unscripted moments, he creates images that feel immediate, human, and true.
His love of street photography and capturing memories on film continues to shape his vision — quiet observations of everyday life that reveal something larger about connection and presence. Whether working on commercial campaigns or personal projects, Walter approaches each subject with sensitivity and respect, letting environments support the story rather than overshadow it.
Through Lucky Us, the creative partnership he co-founded with partner Rhea Anna, Smith brings this sensibility to brand storytelling — weaving together still and motion pieces that resonate with honesty and emotional depth. His guiding belief is simple: when you honor authenticity, the images speak for themselves.
